The 6L Wet Chemical Kitchen Fire Extinguisher is the best kitchen fire extinguisher. With a lance, it allows the operator to fight the largest kitchen fires at a very safe distance. With its misting nozzle, the wet chemical is gently discharged over the fire, greatly reducing spillages and reducing fire spread. This fire extinguisher can fight 75F kitchen fires - That is the largest possible fire test for kitchen fires.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a powder fire extinguisher instead?

No. To fight kitchen fires, you need a cooling component. This means any fire extinguisher that can successfully fight kitchen fires is very likely water based. Without a cooling component, the kitchen oil will still be above auto ignition temperature. If a powder fire extinguisher puts out the fire, it will most certainly reignite. The biggest problem is that powder fire extinguishers will likely cause the cooking oil to splash out and spread the fire.

Is this safe to use on electrical equipment?

Yes. This fire extinguisher has been dielectrically tested which means it is safe to use on electrical equipment. SCDF would like to remind everyone that when safe to do so, the source of fire should first be shut off. This includes electrical and gas sources.

I only use electric induction cookers. Do I still need this?

Yes. Even electric induction cookers will cause kitchen fires. This is especially so for commercial kitchens which have professional induction cookers which heat up woks even faster.

Can I test to see if it is working?

All fire extinguishers should not be tested. This will void its warranty. Even the smallest discharge can cause a complete leakage over time. This is intended for safety reasons and it is also why fire extinguishers must be recharged upon any partial or complete usage.

How do I maintain this?

The annual maintenance is a SCDF requirement for commercial users. Fire extinguishers have to be maintained at a SCDF approved workshop. You can bring this fire extinguisher to our partner at 9 Fan Yoong Road. Prior appointment is required. Make an appointment at 87744355
